  Rediscovering Roots: A Journey of Connection, Choice, and Renewal At first, I found myself rather reluctant when the idea was raised of connecting with relatives on my grandfather's side. Our family bonds had gradually weakened due to the geographical distance that separated us. My parents and I lived in my grandmother Bae Deca's place, nestled in Malungun, while our relatives from Datu Daragangan resided in Boriongan. The distance was not just measured in kms but also in the passage of time and the fading of shared memories.  Though I know them by heart, kasi madalas kong nakikita ang mga past pictures ng mga relatives ko kay Datu Daragangan sa Album ni Atemai, and the very fact na si Ina never na disconnected sa kanila because they have a special place in my mother's heart. *picture not mine, ctto* LINK: https://rb.gy/6v8pf THE LONGKAYAN CLAN - - DAY ONE - - On August 12, 2023, the gathering of the 'mbawataan o Longkayan', the Longkayan Clan, commenced with a vibrant parade. At 8 am, numerous cars belonging to the clan members converged at Talub, Tamparan. In a display of unity, everyone patiently waited until 10 am to ensure that all could participate and join the parade. The procession kicked off from Talub and traveled through Bacolod, Dimayon, Pitakus Highway, Dilabayan, Central ES Buadidiayomangga, Zakba, Boriongan, and circled back to Talub, ultimately reaching the main venue—the grand gymnasium of the Barangay. Once gathered in the gymnasium, the program officially commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur'an. This was followed by opening remarks, a warm welcome address, and captivating intermissions, all leading up to the lunch break. Amidst the events, some went home to pray. Some stayed and pray nearby.
